Indonesia Mengajar is a movement to send the best university graduates to teach for one year in primary schools located in some of Indonesia’s most remote areas. By deploying these brightest Indonesia young leaders, it is expected that they would become “the window of Indonesian development” to the children from remote areas. Meanwhile, this one-year valuable experience would become part of Indonesia’s future leader’s life.
Currently, the first batch of Indonesia young leaders is now in their fifth-month living as a ‘Pengajar Muda’ (‘Young Teachers’). Based on their observation, the children in all placement area are really eager to have more access for basic literatures. At this stage, Yayasan Indonesia Mengajar are preparing to establish small libraries in 51 elementary schools and inviting local community to participate in this program.
